"graphic design" is a pretty broad spectrum. If you are just looking to edit pictures in photoshop most any computer will do. If you are looking to work with 3d images then you should get something with a more powerfull videocard. Personally i would get the dell XPS 1730 if you can afford it. But we need a little more information like what screen size you would like to get and how much you are willing to spend.

Minimum Specs: At leastt 2.2 – 3.0 GHZ Processor (Dual Core) nForce Chipset, 3-4GB RAM, 256-512MB Dedicated Video (nVidia) 250GB HDD. A bigger LCD 15.4" – Any laptop brand can do. Thanks.

Mac Book Pro. No contest. If you’re seriously pursuing graphic design, don’t even consider a PC. Mac Books aren’t bad, but you’ll need the processing power of the Mac Book Pro if you want to run Adobe’s Creative Suite smoothly.
